Maximize Your Homes Storage Space
You just moved into your new rental, and realize that you don’t have as much storage as your previous home. How can you maximize the smaller amount of storage space to fit your belongings?1. Purge. Get rid of unnecessary items. A good rule of thumb, if you haven’t used it in a year, it’s probably safe to get rid of. Clothes, books and knick knacks are items that people tend to accumulate, and never get ride of.2. Minimize furniture. Furniture takes up a large amount of space, especially in a small home. Get rid of furniture that isn’t essential, such as multiple end tables or book shelves that are only used for decor.3. Get organized. Now that you are down to your essentials, get organized. Group similar items into containers or bins that are easier to store away. For items that aren’t used on a regular basis, store them up high or out of the way so they are not taking up valuable real estate.
4. Purchase organizing systems. Use organizing systems such as closet organizers, tubs, bins or other systems that you can purchase to help maximize your storing efficiency. 5. Keep your home de-cluttered. Your house will feel much more spacious if you keep everything in it’s storage place when you’re not using it. Not only will clutter make your home feel smaller, but people tend to accumulate more things when their home is cluttered.
